The Oxford Africa Society Advisory Board

We are pleased to announce the inaugural members of the Advisory Board of the Oxford Africa Society formally established in Trinity term 2020 under the Presidency of Nwamaka Chidera Ogbonna. The Board shall amongst other things support the President and executive committee in the implementation of its annual plans especially with respect to fundraising and student welfare. The inaugural Board Chair is Ambassador Johanna Swanikier who is an Oxford alum and Founder, President & CEO of the Heritage and Cultural Society of Africa (HACSA).

The Board also comprises other Oxford alum including Mr. Hakeem Belo-Osagie, Chairman Metis Capital Partner and Treasurer of the Oxford Africa Society (1972/1974); Mr. Nelson Oppong, Lecturer in African Studies and International Development, University of Edinburgh and President of the Oxford Africa Society (2009/2010) and Mr. Hugh Quarshie, Film Producer/ Actor and President of the Oxford Africa Society (1973).

Senior leaders on the continent and the diaspora are also members of the Board, they include Ms Dana Reed – Impact Investor and former interim CEO of the Africa Centre; Mrs Ofowve Aig-Imoukhuede – Founding Director, Africa Initiative for Governance and Mr Mohammed Dewji – President, MeTL Group.

We are excited about the establishment of the Advisory Board and confident that it will add significant value to the growth of the society.
