BIOGRAPHY

Jabez Magomere is a DPhil student whose work focuses on Natural Language Processing techniques for automated fact-checking and misinformation detection. Additionally, he's working as a researcher at OxAI Labs, using food as a lens to explore fairness in cultural representations in generative models. He earned an MSc in Social Data Science from the University of Oxford, where his thesis focused on developing text classification models for crowdsourced election reports in multilingual and cross-domain election settings.

Before Oxford, Jabez spent three years as a Software Engineer at Twiga Foods, Africa's largest tech-driven grocery startup. There, he helped design and scale the business technology infrastructure to support core business operations for over 40,000 vendors. Jabez has been involved in building and contributing to developer communities, having given multiple talks and workshops at DroidConKE (the largest Android Developer Conference in Africa), Google Developer Festival Kenya, and DroidCon Nigeria.
