Graduate Research and Innovation Townhall

First spearheaded by former general secretary Simphiwe Stewart, the Graduate Research and innovation (GRAIN) townhall is a platform for AfriSoc members, AfOx visiting fellows and affiliates to present, discuss and encourage action on current issues affecting the African continent. Conveners work and partner with the Africa Oxford Initiative whose visiting scholars/fellows co-present on their research.

In Michaelmas term 2019, Kofi Gunu, convened a GRAIN forum unpacking the history, political and economic motivations of Ghana’s year of return. Later in Hilary term 2020, Joselyn Agyeman-Duah convened a GRAIN forum on the dynamics and implications of preterm birth with a focus on African countries.
